The Degree Committee for the Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine
The Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine entrust the oversight of their graduate programmes to a Degree Committee. The Degree Committee’s membership represents the 21 departments and institutes within the School of Clinical Medicine and additionally the Department of Veterinary Medicine.
This Committee meets monthly during term-time to discuss graduate student policy matters and to consider graduate examination and progress reports. It is the awarding body for Master degrees and makes recommendations on the award of the PhD and other higher degrees to the Board of Graduate Studies, which is the awarding body for these degrees. Routine matters (such as the appointment of examiners, working away and other allowances – as well as most admissions business) are dealt with on a daily basis by the administrative officers who support the work of the Degree Committee.
The Graduate Training Office
The administrative officers who support the work of the Degree Committee are based within the Graduate Training Office of the Graduate and Clinical Academic Training Section of the School of Clinical Medicine.
