Introduction
The School of Clinical Medicine has a number of travel grants to support field-work costs and other expenses. Details of these can be found below.
Students should also consult their College website for details of travel funds available within their College.
E G Fearnside Fund
The E.G Fearnsides Travel Fund provides grants to enable members of the University working on subjects connected with organic diseases of the nervous system to travel for the purpose of study or research. Funds can be used to travel to attend conferences or other research project-related activities.
The Fund will also consider funding small items of equipment, such as laptops.
Application deadlines
Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please apply at least 6 weeks before funding is required.
Eligibility
- Retrospective applications will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
- Post Doc applications must be made within three years of graduation.
- The maximum award for successful candidates travelling in Europe will be £600.
- The maximum award for successful candidates travelling outside of Europe will be £1000.
- Successful applicants will only be supported by the Fearnside Fund once in any three year period.

Isabelle Bouhon Fund
The principal objective of the Isabelle Bouhon Fund is to promote the education and recognition of excellent researchers who are at an early stage of their academic careers in the University in the field of Regenerative Medicine. The Managers of the Isabelle Bouhon Fund intend to provide funds annually to support travel/collaboration scholarships, particularly to present research, and for training courses.
To apply you must be a postgraduate student or postdoc, undertaking research in The biology and therapy of tissue regeneration.
Individual awards will be limited to £300 for travel within the UK, £600 for travel in the EU and £800 for international travel. The managers of the Isabelle Bouhon Fund are mindful of the need to decrease the University’s carbon footprint and would ask that all applicants consider this issue when preparing their application.
